sWICKED

I may be a little late on this plug but its weel worth it. And although i promised myself not to post during exams i take by the words of what Winston Churchill once said...."Fuck It"

Sorry if you got excited but jesus only DJs the backroom or heaven so i couldnt get a hold of his mixtape. But....i have got one that is stunning. Just to illustrate how good it is i whilst downloading it also downloaded The Twelves new mixtape (The Twelfth Hour) which at any other time would be on repeat.....But this mix thanks to an anonymous red-head has come to my attention and is unbelievable.

It i could base how i wish to be as a DJ in the future it would be just this. Every song is amazing and it sits somewhere between a mini-mix (where you may not realise there a 20 songs beatmatched at once) and a full blown mixtape. Swick is a melbourne boy doing OZ proud and along with this dope mix he has some of his own individual remixes up. Thankfully, arguably the best new label in the land of OZ 'Sweat It Out' have gobbled him up.....he joins the likes of Ajax, DCUP, Act Yo Age, EduK etc etc. So sit your ass down put redtube i mean youtube on pause for 30 minutes and listen to the best eighty songs crammed into that time. PS - look out for some retrun posts and weekly segemnts starting next friday

A New Sensation?

Lately i have seen some dope stuff on the tube that shows with new age video+audio editing some funky stuff can be made check out these three the first two of which is an chiller under the name Pogo who has quite a few of these on youtube. He uses basic sounds from movies along with a small amount of his own stuff and its very wicked. The last is a more basic refix but is still cool and pretty funny...Theres my Sunday Roast so check em out.
Peace.

And Then It Happened.

UK duo Beni G and Plus One are the tag team behind unique sounds of JACK BEATS. This magnificent combo have been releasing some killa remixes since early 08, incorporating hard-hitting breakdowns and distorted basslines.

These UK remix extraordinaire don’t disappoint with nearly every release transforming into a dancefloor hit, earning these floor fillers a spot on cheap thrills label along side the likes of Fake Blood and Sinden.
If your still conscious then you can catch there set on the 1/1/10 as they head down under to start the year with a bang, touring with the Field Day crew.

With numerous influences across most genres there is something for everyone.

Bon Appétit

The Land of OZ

Quickly if you have not heard the killer lineup for Field Day 10' then it is as follows:
2 Many DJs (Belgium),
The Presets,
Major Lazer,
LCD Soundsystem (USA),
Architecture in Helsinki,
Fake Blood (UK),
Datarock (Norway),
Krafty Kuts (UK),
The Proxy (Russian Federation),
Sinden (United Kingdom),
Fred Falke (France),
Sebastien Leger (France),
Lyrics Born (USA),
DJ Yoda (UK),
Skream & Benga,
The Juan McLean,
Amanda Blank (USA),
Treasure Fingers,
Nic Fanciulli,
Riton,
We Have Band,
Jack Beats

This is probably the best announcement of various chillers that will be coming to the land of OZ (hence the title) along with such festivals as Pyramid Rock, Playground Weekender, Summadayze, Good Vibes etc. To my rejoice one of the craziest promoters/producers/DJs is hitting down under. Yes its Steve Aoki, not much information about who he is playing with yet is available but for Steve Aoki he does mean special guests. On that note I will drop you a few random tracks and i suggest that you get some of the green highlighted blokes' (above) tunes as they are all insane. Oz we have certanily got some crackers coming up......and toto we aint in fucking Kansas anymore (had to do it).
Peace.

HOSTAGE

Tilt your kilt cos Hostage is in the house. Hailing from Scotland this dude has been spinning it up lately. The hard electro styles of Hostage have been on repeat for me heaps lately. I am not sure what they are starting to put in the water over there but scotts like Hostage and Dirty Basement have been smashing out cranking tunes that have an inventive element to them.....i am yet to figure out what makes them different but there is definately something. Enjoy these couple of tracks and stay on the look out for electro talent as its everywhere not just france. If you dig these tracks he is playing at Oxford Arts Factory early-ish october.
Au Revoir.

A NEW TAKE

yay. i have found time on the weekend to post...anyhoo the theme for this post are remixes, edits, covers etc of old tunes. Everyone has there personal favourites and although i will never state a cover better then the original as its still after all a cover they are sometimes dang gooood.

The first is a cover (with some lyric changes) of the classic Golden Brown by The Stranglers which in itself it a cranking tune. You may have heard this song in the film 'Snatch' which is also a cracker of a movie like all Guy Richie films it has a great soundtrack. This song was quite highly placed in JJJ's Hottest 100 of all time and if my memory serves me well (rarely does it) it may have made it into the top ten. The cover of this track is by Frankmusik who i did an earlier post about ....i think. You will notice he changed the lyrics to When You're Around but still the same melody etc. So this is Boys Noize remix of his cover. You decide.

Golden Brown - The Stranglers
When You're Around (Boys Noize Remix) - Frankmusik

Secondly. One of my all time favourite old-school tunes that had a moment with Arty Ziff on the Simpsons is Sweet Dreams. The synth line is classic as is the whole tune....cheers Eurythmics. So a couple of Edits of this one the first is from ChewFu and with some new beats and Diplo-like dropping of a rap-appella really makes it a wicked tune. The other is from a man who the scene knows to well Erol Alkan...his stuff is good i just think he rekons he is too good and in some spots ruins the vocal romance....o well its your call enjoy.

Sweet Dreams (ChewFu Remix) - Eurythmics
Sweet Dreams (Erol Alkan's Edit) - Eurythmics

BONUS ROUND- yes bonus round bringing it back to crash bandicoot where youd get a chance to nab more of those fruits that were like a mixture of apples, pears and plums. forget that trip here is the bonus and keeping with the theme is a hiphop remix of the queen himselfs classic tiny dancer.

Tiny Dancer (Ironik Remix) - Elton John

You stay funky.

Mr B.I.G

Sadly no its not this new york bloke that inspired the post. After watching Notorious again i figured that it not only does Biggie deserve a post but there is also not enough hip hop on here. So also in keeping with the overall theme of this here is some of his stuff given new-school spins. Both of the tracks are mashups and are daaamn fine. The first and probably the better of the two is a mash of the Justice remix of Electric Feel mash potatoed with the B.I.G.'s killer hit Nasty Boy. The second it the young folks themselves with a predecessor track of Nothin To Worry About in with my favourite Biggie track Party & Bullshit.

PS - also check out Ratatat's remix of Party & Bullshit

Where's the cheese at?

The man behind the mask Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 has been the best thing to emerge from Canada.

This guy has been one of my faves for some time now, love him or hate him his trance like mixes are some of the best out, an essential component ot any electro lovers iPod.

The chill factor he adds to most of his tracks and remixes gives him the edge that has landed him #3 on inthemix international acts.

His mind-blowing performances earlier in 09 with the good vibes crew has managed to bring him back to our shores once again to headline the upcoming stereosonic festival.

Hes managed to produce one of the best remixes of calivins "im not alone"

so enjoy!

Deadmau5 - Brazil
Deadmau5 - Failbait

SYD's Dirty Trump

I'd like to kick things off with a bit off jazz as the new counter-part to the duo
The trumpet has devoloped a whole new name for itself thanks to the unique sounds of... thats right you guessed it the one and only timmy trumpet. The worlds first DJ/trumpet artist.
Although fairly new to the scene this guy has been jumping from festival to festival throughout 09 and and i look forward to catching his electro symphony next month at parklife.
He's even managed to nab himself a spot in sonys inthemix top 50 , sitting nicely at #37 in Aust, not bad for a guy who only started a few years back.
timmy is making quite the name for himself with sets in a number of australias most well-known clubs
anyways back to the music
The buzz of the trumpet in this chill little remix gives this tune just what it needs. its only a snippet but check it out!

xx RATED

just a quicky. The xx have been getting huge exposure recently on the www. They are an awesome foursome that hail from London and although quite dark and melodic are pretty hard not to like. This girlguygirlguy have mastered the electropop to dark indie genre and are currently in the process of a european tour. If thats not enough to buy you these tracks will seal the deal.
