Houston we have disco

Excuse my absence of late. The surmounting pressures of my studies and a problematic computer have resulted in some drunkfunk neglect. Nevertheless one must deliver and in doing so i have singled out a very chilled minimal disco array of tunes from Rockets. Hailing from Coimbra Portugal Fred Oliveira (the man behind the aeronautical alias) has produced some tranquil yet funky beats that border 90's snare infused house music and some nu wave disco. The prescription on Oliveria's music recommends use whilst orbiting a chillaxed enviroment, what lacks vocals and the nu wave disco hooks takes a new level of a minimal funky disco progression - best you decide yourselves as this hybrid chiller is certainly prepared for lift off.

Back to Madrid

So as the Parklife 2010 lineup sinks in beyond all the big names which are jumping out at you one that may have gone unnoticed is Delorean. According to their myspace these Spanish hangers are not actually signed yet, which asks the question as to has their ever been a more blog hyped band who amidst topping hypem download charts and playing around the world can be unsigned and unnoticed on a festival lineup? Current matadors of the indie scene they have released a new album 'Subiza' which if it does not fly under the radar of recognition like their previous stuff should be destined for great things. If you are questioning the picture and title then i shall explain - the DeLorean was the model of car synonymous with Back To The Future and is i gather the origin of their band name. Below is a mint follow up to their hit 'Stay Close'... certainly a name to watch out for, and on that note lets hope these other tracks i have included will also get you saying "great scott!!"

"gather round the campfire ya'll"

This is a tale of days when good gigs and concerts were cheap and it wasn't about funding a tour with a 90 dollar ticket to not hear certain songs you paid for, when it was about bringing out artists who would almost pay to escape their surroundings and visit our sunny shores. Sounds good doesn't it? but usually unless you are an intense indy kid who will happily wander into an abandoned factory that smells like freshly painted subjective graffiti and be satisfied with wine in a frat party cup...then these cheap gigs are nothing but an urban myth.

But wait...even though we have chosen a path of high expense club nights and festivals, Nadastrom have answered our prayers. Book in June 19th as a night off the goon budget, because yankee chillers Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom are spinning an 'all-american rave themed' set at Oxford Art Factory. OxArts and their night Dance Club is gifting us with what is set to be a shredding performance for only 10Bucks!! If there is an doubt still in your mind then to hear local spinners Awkward Boys and Three Fingers are in full support just brushes those cobwebs. On that Three Fingers have put together a sweet bootleg you can grab below for the event promo and trailer. So unpack your belt-buckles, get practicing your hillbilly twang and prepare yourself for a night of Hulkamania shirt ripping...oh and some tunes as well.
head over to moshtix to grab your tickets for this sweet deal.
And If you are asking yourself who Nadastrom are then head over to their myspace or for further insight check out theinterview they just did with the peeps at Dance Club

world cup funk

As world cup fever surmounts to a level beyond boiling point it can be hard to go more commercial and brilliant then say the nike 'write the future' campaign has, although on the other end of the global brand scale adidas have done one better with this little clip. You might ask what this has to do with the usual sway of the blog, and other then the jam packing of music and social cult heroes into probably the most timeless movie scene ever then it you answer is nothing....its just fucking cool.
new tracks and tunes up for all you jive turkeys soon, plus breaking festival news - till then
peace!
